Product Name: Fukien Cooking Wine (Fujian Lao Jiu / Fujian Cooking Wine)
Origin: Minhou County, Fuzhou City, Fujian Province, China
Product Type: Semi-sweet Red Yeast Rice Wine, China National Geographical Indication Product
Product Description:
Fukien Cooking Wine originated from Fuzhou's traditional glutinous rice red yeast wine (commonly known as "Lao Jiu") and has a history of over 200 years. It is a semi-sweet red yeast rice wine with a distinctive style unique to China. The wine was already famous during the Song Dynasty, with the poet Su Shi writing "Night pours Min wine, white as vermilion" in its praise.
The product is made from premium round glutinous rice, Gutian red yeast (Hong Qu), and Xiyuan mountain spring water, supplemented with a proprietary herbal yeast starter, using the traditional "spreading method" (Tan Fan Fa) brewing process and aged for three years. The wine features an amber-brown color, clear and bright appearance, mellow and full-bodied flavor, refreshing taste, and a lingering finish, combining the characteristics of fragrance, richness, smoothness, and refreshment. Fukien Cooking Wine won first prize at China's First Huangjiu Festival and is exported to markets including the United States and Japan.
