Description

Product Description:
Lotus Leaf Bun, also known as "Gua Bao" or "Taiwanese Hamburger," is a traditional Chinese steamed bun originating from Fujian and Taiwan, named for its lotus-leaf-like shape. Made from high-quality wheat flour, it undergoes multiple processes including fermentation, rolling, folding, and steaming. The bun is soft, fluffy, and light, with a natural wheat aroma and a subtle fermented fragrance. It features a convenient opening in the middle, perfect for stuffing with a variety of savory or sweet fillings. Kept frozen, it can be steamed directly from frozen – no thawing required, offering quick and easy preparation.

Features:

  1. Soft and Fluffy – Through proper fermentation and steaming, the bun is light, airy, and tender, suitable for all ages.

  2. Unique Lotus-Leaf Shape – Beautifully shaped like a lotus leaf, with a natural pocket for easy filling.

  3. Versatile Fillings – Classic pairings include braised pork belly (hong shao rou), pickled mustard greens, crushed peanuts, and cilantro. Also great with red-braised meat, fried egg, ham, lettuce, cheese, or pork floss – suitable for both savory and sweet preferences.

Cooking Instructions (Cook directly from frozen):

  • Steaming (Recommended): Place frozen buns in a steamer and steam over high heat for approximately 5–8 minutes until soft and fluffy. Serve immediately.

  • Microwave: Cover with a damp cloth or microwave-safe lid and heat on medium power for about 1–2 minutes until softened (be careful to prevent drying).
Classic Filling Suggestion: Open the steamed bun and fill with braised pork belly, pickled mustard greens, cilantro, and a sprinkle of crushed peanuts. Drizzle with a little braising sauce for an authentic taste. Customize with your favorite ingredients.
Note: Enjoy immediately after steaming for best texture. After opening, reseal and return unused buns to the freezer promptly.
